I know what your thinking... I live in Minnesota (known as Minnesnowta to us here) so, this must be my old snow shovel! Ha Ha Ha! It certainly would make quick work on my walkway. But no, it is a vintage two-handed comb scoop, once used to dry harvest cranberries, that Sue and I came across not too long ago on one of our junking adventures. Well, we decided that it would make the perfect welcoming wreath holder outside my red dutch door on the side porch. With my two little one's helping, we made it a kid friendly, family affair. Now everyone feels right at home when they enter our home this holiday season.

I was looking for a family friendly winter project to do with my two kids, when I came across this beautiful vintage flower aquarium. I knew right away that it would make the perfect snow globe! Add a vintage Santa pepper shaker, Mrs. Clause the salt was broken long ago, and you have the makings of the perfect snow storm. Really, what child do you know that doesn't love to shake and turn a snow globe and watch the flakes fly? Heck, I don't know an adult that doesn't love to do the same!

No, it's not a new fangled exercise program to achieve a flat belly in ten days or less, but rather it's taking items from your home and using them for something completely different than what they were meant to do. I just love using unexpected pieces to create things of beauty and purpose. This candle holder is crafted with leftovers from a building project at my home, some decorative craft paper fresh off the scrap pile, some ribbon, and a vintage watch face. Unlikely partners for sure, but that's the beauty of it all!
